Walking For Dreams
On Sunday, we took part in a fundraiser called Walking For Dreams. The walk began in 2004 as a way to help raise funds for non-profit organizations that help children and families in the Indianapolis community. The funds raised this year will help over 35 different local organizations. We chose to walk for the Indiana Blind Children’s Foundation in honor of Lola. All proceeds we raised on Lola’s behalf went directly to the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. I am very pleased and especially proud to report that Team Lola raised $1145!! We want to personally thank each and every one of you that donated to this great cause!
My best friend, Alexis drove down from Michigan with her two kids so that she could participate in the walk. Her daughter, Kadyn took on the task of walking Zara and Zoe and I must say, she did an amazing job!
The walk took place along the Canal in Downtown Indianapolis. The weather was beautiful and the scenery was even better. It was a perfect day for a walk!
My other friend Stephanie came down for the walk with her new baby, Nora. While Team Lola didn’t have many walkers, we still had a great time enjoying the day.
After the hour long walk, we were greeted with goodie bags full of fresh fruit and snacks. Lola was tired out from the long day.
And what goes best with a nice long walk?! Mexican food!
The day was a huge success and over $89,000 was raised to help Indiana children and families. We were honored to be a part of Walking For Dreams and look forward to raising even more money for the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired next year.
My mother is in town from Costa Rica for three weeks! It is a girls weekend as my mom, Lola and I are headed up to Michigan. I’ll be back on Monday with adventures from our trip!
Have a great weekend!
