A Visit, a Tear and a lot of Lessons

On Saturday, we had the pleasure of having Rob’s mom come to visit for a couple of nights. While I know many people gasp at the thought of their mother-in-law coming to visit, I on the other hand welcome Kathy with wide open arms. I could go on and on about what an amazingly special woman she is, but I’m trying to coerce her into writing a post about her time with Lola. I have a feeling if she chooses to share her thoughts, you will quickly see how angelic she is. The weekend was spent just catching up, eating good food, Kathy showering us with awesome Christmas goodies and she was able to give Lola lots of grandma love. Lola’s Birthday – Part One

This little girl has had a busy birthday week full of activities, lots of fun new toys, too many sweets and a whole bunch of birthday loving. After her First Steps evaluation on Wednesday, she opened the first batch of her presents and then we spent the afternoon out and about. It is a three part process that includes physical, emotional and cognitive aspects. Melissa told us they generally begin this type of therapy at six months, but because of Lola’s vision problem she felt it best to focus on Lola’s eyesight instead. Melissa began by showing Lola a toy that made sound. She wanted to familiarize Lola with it not only by sight, but also by the noise it made. Melissa then took a dark colored...

Lake Michigan

First trip to Lake Michigan Happy family Putting her little toes in the sand My besties and our babes (minus Mason) Waiting at Clementines I think one of my favorite parts of our entire vacation was our trip to Lake Michigan.  The beauty of Michigan never ceases to amaze me and I can’t quite understand why I was so anxious to leave when I graduated college.  Perhaps it is because I am wiser and more traveled now, but I miss Michigan.   Lola got to go swimming in Lake Michigan and she thoroughly enjoyed digging her little feet into the sand.  I love that she is so adaptable no matter where she is.  I hope this is a precursor to how she will live her life.  If I...
