Just Call Me Dex…As in Index

“If you would have told me this morning that I would have lost part of my finger, I would have said you were fucking nuts.” These words – graphic and all, muttered by husband after a plastic surgeon who specializes in hands, just amputated part of his finger. Late Monday morning, I was sitting at my desk admiring my new computer monitor (a very early birthday gift from Rob). It was the start of my three day mini-vacation, I was playing around on Pinterest, manipulating photos in Lightroom and I had just started adding books to my Amazon shopping cart. Happy Father’s Day Rob!

I was going to not do a full “Happy Father’s Day Rob” post because the man knows how much I appreciate him. It doesn’t take one day a year for my husband to know that I cherish the ground he walks on. But today as I entered the kitchen from a long day of work, I noticed my mother’s screen saver up on her computer. It was a continuous collage of photos that were taken the day Lola was born. I watched the collage intently and began to cry because that day forever changed our lives. Changed our lives in the best way possible. The best way imaginable. Rob’s Birthday & A Chili Cook Off

Rob’s birthday was on Decmeber 2nd. Actually I should preface that with it was my sister’s birthday on December 1st. So Rob’s birthday turned out to be low key in the “celebration” department. After being up for 24 hours, he didn’t get the proper rest he needed as it was our first day back in Indy. Our house is kind of tiny therefore he could hear my Mom, Lex, Lola and me thrashing around as we were excited to get a start on transforming this place into a home. We…or maybe it was I who dragged everyone around the entire day. My American...

Day 12 – May 9th, 2011

This is Lola’s new favorite thing to do.  There can be a boob in her face, a bottle, a pacifier or we can be entertaining her, but all she wants are those tiny little digits in her mouth.  When you try to get them out of her mouth, it is literally like prying a good beer out of my husbands hand.  Not happening.  Lola has only had one seizure cluster today and it happened at 2:00 am last night.  I was out for a bit today while she napped, but Rob didn’t see any clusters either.  Not getting our hopes up too high, but it’s a relief when she wakes up on her own rather than because she is seizing.  Only two more days of the high dosage...
