Girls Day Out

Yesterday Lola was a bit fussy because of her little teethers coming in and I needed a bit of fresh air given the week I had had so we ventured out for some fun. I had planned to go to Sabana Park to walk around and enjoy the outdoors, but as I approached it began to rain. I wasn’t up for spending money as we are saving pennies for our return back to the U.S. so what better place to go than to the mall. I know – the mall and saving money seems like an oxymoron, but it is ridiculously expensive so I knew I wouldn’t be tempted to buy anything. After a bit of window shopping and some cooing from strangers, it was time for lunch....

Gmail Chat – You Suck!

Call me weird, but I like to remain “invisible” on Gmail chat because. . . well because I don’t like being that available. I like to see who’s on just in case I might feel up for chatting, but I don’t like that green symbol by my name screaming “talk to me”. I guess I’m not spontaneous enough for conversations that I don’t have planned. Whatever – even writing this makes me realize what a weirdo I am. But anyway, this weekend I’ve noticed that Lola’s neurologist, Dr. Luna is online and available to talk. Seeing that I’ve not heard from him regarding Lola’s MRI results, I have quickly added that green symbol in hopes that he would see it and think “hey – I should tell that...

The Waiting Game

Let me just start by saying it should be a crime to have a baby fast! The hospital originally said Lola needed to fast for six hours, but after I reminded them that she wasn’t even nine months old, they quickly said four hours would be sufficient enough. At 2:30 pm, I fed Lola solids until she wouldn’t eat them anymore. And at 3:30 pm, I tried to give her a bottle only for her to eat one ounce. So I knew the next four hours would be difficult as she is used to eating every few hours. At around 6:00 pm, she began to get quite fussy. We continued to change the environment (inside vs outside), we played, we sang, we did everything we could to get...

The Next Chapter

Hola to all of our family and friends! The last time we wrote a mass email like this was to share the grave news about Lola’s diagnosis. Thankfully this letter is to share a bit of good news. No I’m not pregnant and no we did not win the lottery! Actually, we have made the decision to move back to the United States on December 1st of this year. It was not an easy decision as we have built a life here in Costa Rica. We have met wonderful friends, we have the best health care for our daughter and of course. . . we have my family. But when thinking about the future, we were unsure as to where this life at the hotel would lead us....

Ramblings

I know I’ve been a bit silent on the blog lately and to be honest, I guess I haven’t had much to say. The thing about having people that follow your blog daily (thank you!!!), they expect to see content. But we’ve had a lot going on in our personal lives, we’ve been busy here at the hotel and Lola has just been her happy little self. While our days at work are broken up, we haven’t had a day off since the end of July and I think I’m just tuckered out. I need a break. I guess I could use a bit of extra sleep too even though Lola does sleep 8 – 10 hours at night. I could use a bit of mindless reading while...
