Embracing Me

After I gave birth to Lola, my body went right back to the way it was before I was pregnant. Shockingly, I didn’t have to work extra hard at getting rid of the baby fat–it just sort of went away. I considered myself lucky and never thought twice about it. As many of you know, Sebastian came out enormous for my 5’3″ body. He was 10 1/2 lbs which would explain why I felt so huge throughout my entire pregnancy. I was naive to think my body would quickly slim up like it had after Lola. Thank You Body

I now sit here at my computer (no longer lying in bed) giving myself tiny congratulations for a job well done. It took my husband to help convince me that I just went through one hell of an ordeal and if anything rather than being mad at my body for retaliating against me, I should be applauding it for making it through such a freakishly painful event. One quality I continued to possess even through my week long pain battle in the hospital was graciousness. I managed to mutter a thank you to every person that helped get me better. I thanked every doctor, every nurse, every tech that drew my blood, every patient relations employee that made sure my hospital stay was pleasant, every food worker that...

I don’t like it, but I did it

This morning I sprang out of bed at 6:00 am and decided I was going to go for a run. Anyone that knows me, knows that I simply do not like to run. It always seems to hurt (probably because of my bad hips) so how can I find joy in an exercise that feels torturous to me? Well, I’ll take the torture over not being able to fit in my clothes! Sure I have lost a lot of the baby weight, but breastfeeding can only do so much. If I want the body back then I need to do something about it.
