Lola’s Birthday – Part One

This little girl has had a busy birthday week full of activities, lots of fun new toys, too many sweets and a whole bunch of birthday loving. After her First Steps evaluation on Wednesday, she opened the first batch of her presents and then we spent the afternoon out and about. When trying to think of fun stuff Lola would enjoy on her birthday, two things came to mind: something sweet and the pool. We stopped off at my work to say hello and indulge in some chocolate cake. Unfortunately I didn’t have my camera, but let me just say Lola is a HUGE fan of chocolate cake. The ten or so bites sent her into full blown hyper-mode for over five hours! I took her to the...

Rob’s Birthday & A Chili Cook Off

Rob’s birthday was on Decmeber 2nd. Actually I should preface that with it was my sister’s birthday on December 1st. We were travelling all day so I didn’t get to wish her a proper Happy Birthday so Jay if you are reading this…Happy Birthday sissy! So Rob’s birthday turned out to be low key in the “celebration” department. After being up for 24 hours, he didn’t get the proper rest he needed as it was our first day back in Indy. Our house is kind of tiny therefore he could hear my Mom, Lex, Lola and me thrashing around as we were excited to get a start on transforming this place into a home. We…or maybe it was I who dragged everyone around the entire day. My American...

Happy Birthday Kathy!

Today is Kathy’s birthday! Who is Kathy? Well, she just happens to be my mother-in-law. I suppose I always had a fear of what a MIL would entail. I heard horror stories from friends and I’ve seen enough movies where the MIL is a nightmare, but thankfully…I actually love my MIL. I have to say I really lucked out in that department. She has a beautiful soul and I feel blessed to have another strong woman in my life. So Kathy – I hope you had a wonderful day. Now that we will be within a drives reach, we hope to spend many future birthdays with you....

November 11th, 2011

Today my dad would have been 67 years old. He was taken too soon after a long battle with lung cancer. I had intentions of writing a long post about how much he meant to me, but emotions seem to be getting the best of me today. I think I’ll keep these thoughts and memories close to my heart. So here are some pictures of the man who helped bring me into the world. He was a good man. He was not perfect, but hey who is? He loved me so much and I will never forget the way I felt when he hugged me tight. He was really good at giving hugs. He made you feel like nothing else mattered except for the love shared in that...

Girls Day Out

Yesterday Lola was a bit fussy because of her little teethers coming in and I needed a bit of fresh air given the week I had had so we ventured out for some fun. I had planned to go to Sabana Park to walk around and enjoy the outdoors, but as I approached it began to rain. I wasn’t up for spending money as we are saving pennies for our return back to the U.S. so what better place to go than to the mall. I know – the mall and saving money seems like an oxymoron, but it is ridiculously expensive so I knew I wouldn’t be tempted to buy anything. After a bit of window shopping and some cooing from strangers, it was time for lunch....
