“Through the Looking Glass”

You all may remember when we created Team Lola and we walked to raise money for the Indiana Blind Children’s Foundation (iBCF) – the philanthropic arm of the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ISBVI). Thanks to many of you, we were able to raise over $1100 in funds that went directly to the school. After the fundraiser, I was contacted by Theresa Brun, the Executive Director of the Indiana Blind Children’s Foundation. She asked if I was interested in sitting on an auction committee for the iBCF’s very first auction. Without hesitation I said yes as I am passionate about helping a school that my own daughter very well may attend some day.

The ISBVI is a state funded school, but their budget has been cut significantly over the past few years as a result of a weakened economy. What once was a thriving school, now is reaching out through many different arms to the public in an effort to continue to help the hundreds of students that attend each and every day (some even participate in the residential program and actually live on campus five days a week). When Theresa asked the Superintendent what the students needed the most, his reply was that they needed new assistive technology to help “level the academic playing field” with vision-abled children. After meeting with some very talented and inspired women, an auction committee was created and a goal was set.

On October 13th, the iBCF will hold its first ever Charity Auction and Gala, “Through the Looking Glass” in the Egyptian Room at the Old National Centre in Downtown Indianapolis. The event will be held at 6:00 pm, but we will have a VIP wine tasting beginning at 5:00 pm for VIP ticket holders and for our generous sponsors. The event is Black-Tie optional and we will be featuring a Cocktail Reception, Silent Auction, Dinner, Entertainment as well as a Live Auction. We are excited to welcome Tom Sullivan to the event where he will give a live multimedia presentation. Tom is a Blind entertainer, Actor, Author, Athlete and Motivational Speaker. We are honored to have him at our event!

We have countless silent auction items that range from salon services, VIP access to events, tickets to sporting events and much more. Along with our Silent Auction, we will have a Live Auction that includes packages too amazing to share! It is going to be a wonderful night and we would love to see some of our Say Hola Lola fans there.
