A Quick Catch-Up Through Pictures

I warned you. I had a hunch this pregnancy would keep me away from my beloved blog. I can’t blame it on morning sickness anymore because finally at 14 weeks, I’m starting to be amongst the living once again. I guess you could say I’m just one tuckered out mama. Between working extensive hours, keeping up with my crazy 2 1/2 year old, trying to at least put my laundry away and staying present in my marriage…well, I guess I’m just stretched a little thin right now (although my belly is stretching WAY out). When I plop my tush down at the end of the day, I just want to sit still, not move and not think. I just want to be. Actually, I just want to be...

This Thanksgiving

Can you feel it? What…might you wonder? The holidays are officially here! You’ll have to excuse my over-the-top delight, but this year the holidays have taken on a whole new role in my life. While most are dreading the holiday season…the overspending, the congested traffic jams, the over-indulging of food, the holiday commercials and the annoyance of spending time with relatives you would not normally wish to be around…I, on the other hand, am welcoming it all with wide open arms. You have to remember, we spent the last three years in Costa Rica where holidays were celebrated (although just us Gringos had Thanksgiving dinner), but it just never felt the same. I was lucky to have my parents to share the holidays with (which unfortunately meant Rob...

Colorado

**I apologize in advance, but this post is crazy long…I just have too much to share! Last week, Lola and I hopped on a plane and headed out to Colorado to go visit my sister, Jada and her family. While Jada and I don’t share blood, we’ve shared everything else in our lives for over 25 years so to me…she is as close as any blood sister could ever be. Our flight left early which meant the princess had a smug look on her face when we quietly whispered “Lola it’s time to get up”. Never mind the 1000 times she has woken us up before 5:00 am over the almost two years of her life. We quickly rounded up the overstuffed bags I packed (a woman and...

“It’s A Circus Out There!”

Last weekend we put the dogs up at a Doggy Hotel, packed up the car with way too much stuff (I take full blame for this as I absolutely LOVE road trips) and we headed to Louisville for the 22nd Annual VIPS (Visually Impaired Preschool Services) Family Retreat – “It’s A Circus Out There!”. We knew it would be a fun filled weekend, but I have to say the entire experience blew my expectations away. While the actual Retreat was to begin on Saturday morning, there was an option for us out-of-towners to stay at the hotel for a discounted rate on Friday night as well as Saturday night. We arrived at the hotel around 4:00 pm and felt relief to, for once in our busy lives, have...

Pure Michigan

Last weekend was a girls getaway as my mom, Lola and I headed up to Michigan to see friends and family. For those of you that don’t know, I grew up in Battle Creek, Michigan aka home of Kellogg’s and Post Cereal. That was and is Battle Creek’s name to fame. I can recall waking up in the morning and enjoying the smell of cereal being freshly made. Perhaps this is why I’m still a cereal junkie to this day. My husband knows my dinner will be cereal if he isn’t around to deter me from it. But when your mother has a maiden name of “Flake”…well I guess it’s in my genes. So I was rather excited to be home when the Battle Creek Cereal Festival was...
