Family Unions Reuniting

This post might be long…in fact, I’m thinking I should break it up into two posts because as requested by my readers, I have pictures. And I mean lots of pictures. Where to start? It’s 6:30 am, I’m 28 weeks pregnant and my brain is in 28 different locations. Bear with me. I think I’ll start with family… On a rainy Sunday morning, I was able to leave work early and as I was getting ready to eagerly head home when I read an email from my mom. Subject Caption : Arrive Early I knew my mom and Steve were in the U.S. (remember they live in Costa Rica) beginning their three week vacation and I knew we were a stop somewhere in between, but I was thrilled...

And So The Transition Begins

A couple of weeks ago, we moved Lola into her very own big girl bed. We considered many options in regards to a bed for her. Was she ready to move out of a crib? Would she be safe in a raised toddler bed? Should we buy a toddler mattress to put on the floor first? Should we consider a twin size mattress on the floor? After many long discussions, Rob and I decided we would move Lola to a twin mattress that would stay on the floor. Lola is a long girl and we would often hear her hit the sides of her crib which would inadvertently disrupt her sleep. We did not feel that Lola was ready to sleep in a raised bed as her comprehension...

Big Sisters Have to be Big Girls

Last night Rob and I began to have the discussion about where new baby’s room will be. Will she (no…not the sex, just using it for writing purposes) take Lola’s room, will she use Lola’s crib, will we keep the same theme and the list goes on. Of course that conversation led to heavy thinking on my part like will I love this baby as much as Lola, will Lola feel left out, will they love each other, are we really responsible enough to care for another tiny being and my mind continued to go in crazy directions (hey I’m a woman a wildly emotional pregnant woman). After much discussion and after many reassurances the bottom line was this…it’s time to let Lola grow up. You know, everyone...

A Quick Catch-Up Through Pictures

I warned you. I had a hunch this pregnancy would keep me away from my beloved blog. I can’t blame it on morning sickness anymore because finally at 14 weeks, I’m starting to be amongst the living once again. I guess you could say I’m just one tuckered out mama. Between working extensive hours, keeping up with my crazy 2 1/2 year old, trying to at least put my laundry away and staying present in my marriage…well, I guess I’m just stretched a little thin right now (although my belly is stretching WAY out). When I plop my tush down at the end of the day, I just want to sit still, not move and not think. I just want to be. Actually, I just want to be...

Our Family (Including My Belly) is Expanding

We’re back. I guess I should say I’m back. After almost three months of taking a blogging hiatus, I can finally tell you why it was necessary that I take a hiatus at all. We are proud to announce that our little family of three will soon be expanding to a family of four… Baby Howell is due to enter our world on January 6th, 2014. Yes…January 6th. Two short days after Lola’s own birthday on January 4th. Not the best planning on our part, but hey…our kids are going to have one heck of a birthday bash every year. Baby H will be the baby’s name for the next six months as we have decided to wait to discover the sex. We did find out Lola was...
